Description
The Point at Sandpoint is where dreams become memories. It's your own private luxury retreat. This one-level, 5 BR, 3.5 BA luxury home is just 3 miles from Sandpoint - with sweeping 280 degree views on 365' of flat, private waterfront. Sleeps 16.
From the moment you enter the massive double wood doors, you'll feel a part of something magical. Picture two private, wooded acres that open up to a custom home on 365' of flat, private Lake Pend Oreille waterfront. Two sandy beaches and incredible panoramic lake and mountain views await you! The swimming is clear, shallow and warm in summer. All this and you're just moments from the charming shops and restaurants of Sandpoint.
Explore the lake by kayak, canoe, stand up paddle board or power boat. 'Hit it' waterskiing, wakeboarding or fishing from the dock for small mouth bass and rainbow trout. Build sand castles on the beach or play volleyball or croquet on the large, grassy lawn. Soak your cares away and enjoy the views from the huge hot tub. Schweitzer Mountain is just 11 miles away for all winter snow sports or for hiking, sightseeing, mountain biking and berry picking in summer. A large variety of wildlife abound here. Ospreys, Bald Eagles, river otters, deer, moose, geese, swans, coots, loons and an abundance of fish all live here. Fall and spring bird migrations are fantastic!
The home itself was custom designed to reflect the natural beauty of the area and the special relationship the Kootenai and Pend Oreille Native Americans had with this region. Cedar, pine, hickory, granite, slate and large stones are used throughout. Designed by well known architect, Jon Sayler, The Point has separate 'pavilions'. The Great Room Pavilion is spacious, yet intimate. Cedar, wood-beam ceilings soar to 24 feet, but the plush, comfortable furnishings keep conversations easy and familiar. Floor to ceiling windows give you the feeling of being surrounded by water. Listen to the lake lap outside as you relax in the sitting area, and watch eagles and ospreys hunt for a fresh fish dinner.
When it’s cold outside, radiant heated floors silently warm you from the toes up. A massive river stone fireplace anchors the Great Room. Remarkable for its artistic 'dry stack' masonry, it burns wood with ease thanks to an instant gas starter. The heart of any home is its kitchen. The Point is no exception. An immense gourmet workspace allows a commanding view of the Great Room, lake and guests. Multiple chefs can work freely on the expansive granite counter tops while friends and family gather around the 'U' shaped alder bar to watch the culinary action. Stainless appliances, warming drawer, a five burner gas range and other amenities make the cooking fun and easy. A true hub, from the kitchen you're just steps to the lawn, deck, breezeway, and family room. An informal dining area right next to the kitchen makes serving easy. In summer dine al fresco on the covered deck. The natural gas barbeque right outside the door is perfect for grilling.
The Breezeway Pavilion features an entire glass wall that lifts up and hides above a cedar ceiling -- all at the touch of a button. Watch a thunderstorm roll in or walk out to the stone, amphitheater steps that lead down to a flat, grassy lawn -- perfect for volleyball, croquet or horseshoes (all provided). The Family Room Pavilion is that perfect escape room for kids and adults. It's stocked with games, kid toys, 60" Plasma HD TV, BluRay, PS4 and surround-sound theater system. As a 5th bedroom, the Family Room also has 2 bunk beds, plus 2 twins built in the custom window seat, and 2 couches -- for additional sleeping. Ideal for cousins, grandkids or the perfect 'teen' hangout.
The Sleeping Pavilion forms a separate wing of the house. Accessed by a long, generous art corridor with deep, plush carpeting and capped off with a solid wood door, the bedrooms offer a serene escape from the rest of the house. This separation allows early and late risers to enjoy themselves without waking the household. ALL bedrooms have incredible lake views! The Master Bedroom Pavilion offers a beautiful King size bed, luxury linens, private patio, and an adjoining Office with Daybed and twin trundle. High speed, secured internet is provided throughout the property. The Master Bath is luxurious with a Jacuzzi tub for 2, granite countertops, slate shower with 2 shower heads and a separate dressing area. A large hot tub is accessible on the stone patio with breath-taking views of the lake. Three additional bedrooms have Queen beds, all dressed with organic luxury linens.
The Point at Sandpoint offers different experiences in each season. During the warmer seasons, everything revolves around the lake. A private dock with boat lift will provide a spot to keep your v-hull boat stored. Two stand up paddle boards, two supyaks (SUP/kayak hybrids), and single kayak are included, as well as sand toys and outdoor games to help with play time. There is a minimum age to rent this home (35 plus please) and we do not allow weddings, receptions and/or events. Thank you.
**Note: Each year, on September 18th OR the 3rd Sunday in September (whichever is later), the Army Corps of Engineers begins dropping the water level of Lake Pend Oreille until ultimately reducing it by a total of 10-12 feet. Around the 4th week in September ALL boat docks and boat lifts on the lake become inaccessible and unusable, as the water completely recedes back from the shoreline leaving just bare ground beneath the docks. The agreement with the Army Corps of Engineers states the lake level must be restored to full pool level each year no later than July 4th, however, the last 10+ years the lake water has been at full pool level around the 2nd or 3rd week in June.

This house is incredible! The location and views from every room can't be beat, and Daugherty Management was there at every turn with exceptional customer service, Mike was great and was very responsive! We appreciated everything! The kids loved the beach toys, bunk room, jumping off the dock and the hot tub, and we all enjoyed relaxing in the yard watching the sunsets and cooking every day with a view! The house was stocked with lots of float tubes, float rafts and life jackets. Everyone in Sandpoint is so friendly. Great trip!

"It was an extraordinarily wonderful experience. There is not one thing that wasnt cared for...aesthetically or functionally. We were overwhelmed with the Restoration Hardware/Pendleton/Pottery Barn exquisite and tasteful. Everything was provided for an easy kitchen experience. The gift basket was thoughtful and yummy! The rooms and layout were perfect for the 15 of us! That theater room was awesome! Kids loved the bunk beds and the window/day beds!! The view of bald eagles and the lake is breathtaking. So nice to have a real fireplace with plentiful supply of wood. The counter seating surrounding the kitchen with the upside down canoe lighting was so conducive to cooking and visiting! I could keep writing...but am hoping you get the idea!!!"

This home is the one you've been looking for. Everything about it is a step above the location, the home, the hosting professionalism and the view. It was the nicest place anyone in my group had ever stayed, and we were so glad we spent the week there. You really feel like you have a compound to yourself at Kellee's place. Being at the of the point, with neighbors decently far behind tree lines, there's an incredible amount of privacy. We loved the yard, and spent many hours playing yard games (Kubb is strongly recommended!). The kitchen is wonderful, and has all the essentials. We made most of our meals in the house, and used the BBQ every day. The view is pretty spectacular. The home is incredibly close to the water, thanks to old zoning rules, so you truly feel like you are ON the water when you're in the great room. It's a feeling I've never gotten except while really being on a boat. The area is wonderful, too. We rented boats, ate out, grocery shopped, hiked and I went on a run, and I would strongly recommend Sandpoint. I kind of hesitate to share this glowing review, because I worried this place will get so popular I won't be able to get available dates to return :)
