Description
Kootenai Bay Lodge epitomizes luxury, log home living on the lake. Imagine a 6 bedroom, 3-story home on a private, wooded lot with 254' of waterfront and your own bay to swim in. Sleeps 16. Incredible private dock, boat lift, jet ski lift, kayaks and paddle boards included too!
Kootenai Bay Lodge is a luxury retreat your family will want to return to year after year. Picture a 6,700 square foot log home, situated on a private, wooded retreat, with breathtaking views of Lake Pend Oreille and the surrounding mountains. Large Great Room, Family Room and Game Room, along with 6 bedrooms over 3 levels, allow for cherished time together — as well as quiet, rest-filled time apart. Ideal for families who long for an unhurried, peaceful, nature-filled vacation — where the timeless use of wood and stone connect the spirit to a simpler time. Family reunions, executive and spiritual retreats will also find a home here.
Influenced by the roots of it’s owners, Kootenai Bay Lodge combines Pacific Mountain Lodge with Adirondack Camp style. This well-crafted log home embodies strength, tranquility and peace. It’s that perfect balance of wood, stone and light. The sturdiness and endurance of 16” hand-hewn Tamarack logs, hand chinking, Alder laid floors, and a massive hand-stacked slate fireplace manifest the main living areas. Giant lakeside windows gateway panoramic views of 43 mile long Lake Pend Oreille.
Watch Bald Eagles and Ospreys hunt daily, and marvel in the ever-changing water parade of local and migratory coots, ducks, geese, and loons. Replace screen time with lake time. Each day here nourishes your senses and body. Start the day with a nature walk or comb the shoreline for a keepsake rock. Fish for rainbow trout or small mouth bass from the dock. Let the kids climb a tree and explore. Bike the rural, yet friendly neighborhood. Swim. Play. Nap. Read. Build sandcastles with the grandchildren on the private beach. Then pay homage to a sunset that frames the end of memory-laden day while sitting outside at the end of the day.
In summer, bring or rent a boat and moor it safely on a new dock and boat lift. You’re in an ideal place for water sports. Water ski, inner tube, wake board or surf the bays right here: Rainbow, Oden, or Kootenai Bay. Explore Warren and Pearl Islands or read about the ancient history of Memaloose Island (a sacred, Indian burial site). Take the boat to dinner (and lunch). Or take a kayak or paddle board out (both provided) and explore the shorelines at leisure.
When not outside, there’s plenty to enjoy inside. The large gourmet kitchen, with new Wolff cooktop & oven, is completely appointed to help you create fabulous meals. Multiple decks provide a variety of areas to eat outside, as well as a quiet place to enjoy a good book. Downstairs you’ll find a beautiful billiards table and game room, separated by a stone and glass fireplace. Just outside is the large hot tub! Movies, TV and Xbox are available in the upstairs Family and Entertainment room.
When “being connected” to the world is necessary, **NEW** high speed WiFi is NOW available in the home and a large built-in office is located upstairs for work needs. Kootenai Bay Lodge celebrates the four seasons of Sandpoint. Schweitzer Mountain is an easy 15 mile drive away and the home is also close to the charming town of Sandpoint. Scenic drives and hiking trailheads are all within a few miles of this fabulous place. Make your next memories here at Kootenai Bay Lodge. Canoe, kayaks and several stand up paddle boards (SUPs) are included with your stay here.
**NOTE: Each year, on September 18th OR the 3rd Sunday in September (whichever is later), the Army Corps of Engineers begins dropping the water level of Lake Pend Oreille until ultimately reducing it by a total of 10-12 feet. Around the 4th week in September ALL boat docks and boat lifts on the lake become inaccessible and unusable, as the water completely recedes back from the shoreline leaving just bare ground beneath the docks. The agreement with the Army Corps of Engineers states the lake level must be restored to full pool level each year no later than July 4th, however, the last 10+ years the lake water has been at full pool level around the 2nd or 3rd week in June.

This property is a must do for all VRBO shoppers! We had 11 people for our stay and the house was very accommodating for this size of a group. The house is very warm and inviting and we are very excited to re-visit again in the summer months so that we can enjoy the outdoor activities as well.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at the Kootenai Bay Lodge. Its a beautiful house and had plenty of space for all of us.
Having a roaring fire in the great room was a family favorite.
The kitchen was a delight and had everything we needed. This was important as we had all of our meals at the house. (The extra fridge was awesome!)
Having the road and driveway plowed frequently was great! I also appreciated the quick response to the dishwasher issue.
The house was the perfect spot for a winter getaway and some of the family were able to enjoy skiing at Schweitzer as well.

This home was the perfect place for our family stay. Plenty of room, comfortable beds and kitchen was fully stocked. We came in the winter but this is an all seasons home and hope to visit in the summer as well! Great location for all season activities.

This house is in a great location, with plenty of privacy (only one near neighbor), and all the amenities you can imagine. We were expecting basic kitchen supplies, but were thrilled to find water equipment (including floaties), board games, beach towels, etc.! The house was spacious while still being cozy, and we really enjoyed our week here. Kellee and her team are also fantastic property managers -- communication was excellent, and everything was very clean, so I would feel comfortable booking any of their properties in future.

We stayed at the home for a family reunion. It was amazing; I am now the favorite uncle! The Kootenai Bay Lodge is the best vacation rental we have ever stayed. This beautiful home was cleaned to perfection. We loved the kayaks, stand up paddle boards and other water toys that come with the home. Kootenai Bay Lodge has everything you could possibly need! The Kitchen is amazing, the access to the lake is perfect and the home is so well equipped that we never needed anything. We had the best vacation ever! Thank you!

Spectacular location, spectacular views, spectacular log home! Everything completely updated and modern. The pictures are good, but the house is better in person! The kitchen is fully stocked with every utensil you will need. We also rented a ski boat and spent a considerable amount of time on the lake. The dock and boat lift are great.
Nothing but great memories
